Our Logix modelling tools are unique among a field of standard consulting analytics. Not only is the powerful model framework adaptable to the focus and scope of each individual project, but Logix offers a more cost-effective alternative to aggressive field sampling routines. In combination with our consulting services, Logix identifies priority resource management issues on the landscape. Logix provides customized solutions for resource managers; including wildlife habitat, cumulative effects management, reclamation, rare ecosystem accounting, and risk management.

Logix is a multi-faceted, specialized analytical program that allows us to tailor environmental assessments to the needs and interests of each client. Built on a robust analytical platform, Logix integrates client-supplied, site-specific data and management or operational goals with peer-reviewed ecological research, industry-standard calculations, government-accepted models, regulatory expectations, and broader field data from Beckingham's extensive environmental survey history.

Logix calculates a series of outputs, including model predictions, management options and different operational scenarios, in response to the ecological inputs and management goals identified by the client. These outputs can be presented in a variety of formats including maps, tables and charts, designed to suit the needs and expectations of our clients. Logix provides the analytical and assessment framework for Beckingham's consulting efforts, allowing us to provide data and environmental management information of exceptional quality to our clients

Logix is a modular assessment tool suite, and includes a variety of subject-specific tools that have been tailored to unique environmental management applications. The foundation of Logix is the Site Logix module, which conducts an assessment of total site condition, and provides important information for subsequent modules. Each additional Logix module, including Soil Logix, Sera Logix, Flora Logix, Fauna Logix, Bolt Logix and Carbon Logix use outputs produced in Site Logix to complete their analyses.

Site Logix

Overview

Site Logix provides Beckingham Environmental's predictive ecological modelling foundation, upon which all other Logix models are based. This tool incorporates field data, statistical ordination, and geoclimatic and ecological parameters to provide customizable programming options that suit the needs and interests of each client.

This powerful program is capable of classifying the landscape to site-scale detail, allowing managers to develop highly detailed operational plans within specific sites. Site Logix is not just a tool for natural resource management, however. It provides detailed information on soil, slope, drainage and vegetation communities as well as forest cover, allowing managers to plan and predict the impacts of multiple development activities.

Information from Site Logix can improve the quality and detail of well-site, roadway, mine, pipeline, and utility corridor planning, operations and reclamation. Plans for site management and maintenance can be improved to proactively address erosion and contaminant risks. Plans for reclamation can be augmented to best suit the local conditions and desired ecosystem outcomes. Site Logix outputs for planning and resource management include detailed landscape mapping and high-resolution analysis which are then used for site-scale assessments and landscape-wide cumulative effects analysis.

Site Logix is built upon a series of well-regarded and industry-preferred datasets that combine to provide a thorough assessment of total site condition. These datasets include digital terrain models, biogeoclimatic classification, soil landscapes, ecological surveys, and forest cover data. We recently incorporated LiDAR and Remote Sensing data, as well, allowing us to provide the most up-to-date and site-specific analyses possible. While this data may be used in other consulting projects, only Logix enables a comprehensive and customized meta-analysis of all these datasets. Overview

As the foundation of so much vegetation and community ecology, soils and soil health play important roles in the quality and productivity of natural and managed sites. Soil Logix provides key data for the management of soil resources, and the mitigation of environmental impacts. Soil Logix incorporates field survey data, statistical ordination and geological parameters into all assessments. These assessments can be customized to provide appropriate management data for a wide range of practices.

For example:

Resource managers can predict the effects of resource extraction operations on soils, and thus on associated ecosystems.  Proactively suggest conservation, mitigation and enhancement measures for the maintenance of soil resources. Implementation can range from individual sites to landscape-wide assessments. Sera Logix builds on Beckingham Environmental’s ecological modelling foundation, by adding the ability to predict future growth trends following ecological succession, or the change in plant species dominance, and associated environmental changes as an ecosystem ages. Sera Logix incorporates field data, statistical ordination and ecological succession parameters in all assessments. Sera Logix provides predictive modelling options to suit the needs and interests of every client, for example:

  • Assessments and comparisons can be made at current and future developmental stages. The rates of ecological succession or change and progression between different land units can be identified, predicted, and used as benchmarks or points of comparison.
  • Assessing the effects of changes over time on ecosystem productivity and resource utilization allows resource managers to incorporate the predicted ecological changes into their management plans.

Built on Beckingham Environmental’s foundation of predictive ecological modelling, Carbon Logix has been specifically designed to forecast carbon sequestration and storage on the tree-, stand- and landscape-level.  Carbon Logix incorporates field data, statistical ordination, and ecological parameters, and ecological carbon theory in all assessments.

Carbon Logix is a flexible modelling program, allowing it to adapt to many different offset protocols, providing a high degree of landscape-level detail under multiple regulatory schemes. Carbon Logix outputs and assessment models meet the needs of a variety of offset protocols, and can be modified to meet the needs of any protocol specified by the client.

Carbon Logix provides adaptable and scalable programming options to correspond with offset policy and protocol expectations, and to address the operational needs of carbon forestry managers. For example:

  • Outputs can be customized to produce detailed maps and tables, showing the precise location of carbon sequestration across a landscape, and across vegetation or substrate types.
